Secretary/Treasurer of the Board
Temporary (up to 6 months) Full Time/Part Time – hours TBD
This is an administrative position that involves responsibility for maintaining the official financial accounts and records of Cortland County’s Soil and Water Conservation District. This is an exempt class position and the employee is under the supervision of the District Manager and the Board of Directors. The full description can be found here.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Preparing Board minutes and agenda;
• Preparing accounting and financial statements, banking, statistical tabulations, data compilations, and reports etc.;
• Record keeping, preparation, and management of a variety of correspondence, records and reports;
• Maintaining general office inventories and equipment; responsible for general appearance of the office;
• Performing general office duties, including filing, answering phone, processing mail, etc.;
• Program Coordination including scheduling, correspondence, organization, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an associate’s degree or higher in Secretarial Science, Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a closely related field AND two (2) years of full-time paid clerical experience; OR
B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND four (4) years of full-time paid clerical experience in maintaining financial records or office procedures; OR
C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
SALARY – BENEFITS
Hourly rate: $15 – $25 – negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Benefits: NYS Retirement, Sick Leave, Annual Leave – according to SWCD policy and work schedule
