ANNUAL TREE & SHRUB SALE
Bare root tree and shrub seedlings/transplants are available annually through Cortland SWCD for conservation planting. Our sale is held each spring, with order forms available in January and distribution in April. By placing an order, you can help make Cortland County a cleaner, greener, healthier community for future generations. Species have been selected to provide a variety of conservation uses and are adapted to Cortland County site conditions. By offering planting materials in several groups, the program is set up to meet the needs of all county landowners, whether they own a quarter acre lot or hundreds of acres.
Our 2024 Spring Planting Program is available through an online sales platform. Use the ORDER HERE button below to be directed to the online store. Orders paying by credit card may also be phoned into the office. Cash or check will still be accepted, but orders must be made at the SWCD office.
Trees serve a variety of purposes and are planted for a variety of reasons. Whether planting a buffer, shade trees, wildlife habitat, or reforesting your property, proper planting is the first step in ensuring successful establishment of your trees.
Bareroot seedlings are an inexpensive way to plant large areas, at a low cost. You may expect up to 25% mortality of your planting. Proper site preparation, using tree mats, and using tree tubes are ways to increase survivability of these small trees.
