ANNUAL POND STOCKING SALE

Have a pond and want to stock it with sportfish? Cortland SWCD can help you obtain various fish species to stock in your farm pond. Visit our online sale to order and pay with credit card, or call or stop in the office.

SWCD fish sales includes rainbow trout, channel catfish, largemouth bass, black crappie, hybrid bluegill, sterile grass carp, fathead minnows, and fish food for private use and pond stocking.  Annual sale dates, order deadline, and pickup information can be found in the current program flyer or on our home page.

Please note: For Triploid Grass Carp, stocking permits must be provided to SWCD prior to pickup. Grass Carp will not be distributed without three copies of the approved permit. Permit applications can be obtained from Cortland SWCD, but must be returned to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation the application can be found here.

Don’t forget to apply for your New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Stocking permit which is required to stock fish in any water body.  The permit can be found here and should be returned to the NYSDEC and not the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).  Another possibility to consider for your pond is the Farm Fish Pond License which can be found here and returned to the NYSDEC and not the SWCD.  General information about all private pond stocking can be found on the NYSDEC website at www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/57966.html.
